G Scale

Large scale or G scale (45 mm or 1+3⁄4 inches, G gauge) is a track gauge for model railways which, because of its size and durability, is often used outdoors. These garden railways use a fixed track gauge of 45 millimeters (1.75 in) to represent a range of rail transport modelling scales between narrow gauge (~1:13‒1:19‒1:20), meter gauge (1:22.5), Playmobil trains (~1:24), and standard gauge (~1:29–1:32). These scales all use the same track and wheel profiles, allowing different scales of models to be operated together. From Wikipedia

Now, in our case, we decided to keep our "Garden Railway" inside instead of out in the elements. We cut holes into several walls and hung track from the ceiling and on brackets from the walls. This lends itself to an interesting viewing angle, as you can see the underside of the train much better than you can the tops of the cars. Opposite of the normal. After some trials of loads and cars coming off the tracks the hard way, some changes were made for safety and operational improvements.

Since it was first built in 2018, it still holds the attention of the younger railfans, and the warning still goes "watch low too, as I have found that the kids love to run around railfanning this train..."
